Rock 2012 is designed for those who are just starting out on the electric guitar but who want to learn about playing the guitar using the tools of ROCK (not jazz, not country, not pop, etc.). But even if you already have a little bit of experience on the guitar, you would benefit from this course just in terms of a focused step by step approach that covers your “must have” playing tools- not to mention the new friends you might make and form a band with!
Stuff you’ll need…,
- An electric guitar and amplifier (Obvious) - It’s best if the amp is a small practice amp just because you will be carrying it to the site. But use what you have.
- A patch cord (this connects the guitar to your amplifier)
- Because you’re likely to lose some, a hand full of medium thickness picks is good-Don’t get those soft floppy ones.
- Guitar straps are a good idea but not essential.
- I recommend leaving your fancy distortion pedals at home (if you have some). We don’t want to spend a lot of time “setting stuff up”. We’ll just use the settings on your amp (most have built-in high gain channels anyway). Remember, it’s a playing course not a “show us your toys” course. Having said that, if you do bring the toys, you are on your own to set them up quickly and accurately.
The course runs for 12 weeks and the tuition is $245.00 (Paid by check).
The course book and CD is $30.00 (Paid by check).
The course takes place at CD Heaven on Saturdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Please arrive each week about 15 minutes early for the “tune-up” session.
